Kolkata 2024 has come to a close. Each team member was asked to give a few words to describe their impression of Kolkata and the work from the last couple of weeks:

Unexpected

Overflowing

Surprising

Everything is a lot

Joyful reunions

Sincerity

Community

Beauty

Goodness

As we head home from our time here, there is excitement to see our families. There is also a tug on our hearts as we leave people who have become friends and family over the many years of partnership here.

Kingsland’s support in Kolkata is life chamging. Over and over we saw organizations that are struggling. There seems to be a lowered demand for products made by those who have been rescued or who have come out of a life of sex work. Some organizations are experiencing the effects of the shifts in the priorities of the groups that have supported them. The work is never ending and isn’t a “cause of the moment.” We have witnessed the results of their success. As a supporter, you are a part of God’s beautiful restoration that is happening every day.

Pray for these heroes who give their lives each day to serve the most vulnerable. Pray for how you can be involved. You will never regret it.

As always, Kolkata, you have overwhelmed us, welcomed us, and blessed us. Abar dekha hobe, Kolkata. (Bengali- we’ll see you again).
